The Book Plate
Jeff's book plate was designed by his mother in law Peggy Bass.
"It's a woodcut and contains three different elements, each relating to an aspect of my life.
Firstly the Potteries where I grew up: secondly folk music which featured strongly as I attended folk clubs in the late 1960's and early seventies and thirdly the Christian faith to which I came in the early 1970s.
The instruments illustrated are the Mandolin and the Appalacian Dulcimer. The latter may be unfamiliar to many so check it out being played by American folk singer, Jean Richie via the picture of her.
The line of music at the bottom of the plate is from the start of a well known hymn. Can you work out which hymn it is?"
